Peter Illych Tchaikovsky

Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840 – 1893) was a Russian composer of the Romantic period. Tchaikovsky started lessons at age five and by eight, he could read music as well as his teacher. He began a career as a law clerk but switched to composing after the death of his mother. He eventually became a professor and conductor as well as composer. His most famous work the 1812 Overture, celebrated the retreat of Napoleonic troops from Moscow, used church bells and live canons!
