John Philip Sousa

"Any composer who is gloriously conscious that he is a composer must believe that he receives his inspiration from a source higher than himself."

John Philip Sousa (1854 – 1932) was an American composer of the Romantic period. Sousa became the conductor for the Marine band in 1880. He wrote American military marches like “The Washington Post” and “The Stars and Stripes Forever” (the national march of the United States of America).
