George Friedrich Handel
"I should be sorry if I only entertained them. I wished to make them better."
George Handel (1685 – 1759) was a German-British composer from the Baroque time period. At the age of nine, he began to compose music for voice and instruments. Handel was influenced by German and Italian styles and then permanently moved to England. He wrote “Zadok the Priest”, played at every British Coronation ceremony and The Messiah, containing the famous “Hallelujah Chorus”. Handel went blind later in life and his last performance he attended was The Messiah.
